Wissahickon Charter School is looking for a COVID Coordinator. The COVID Coordinator will be responsible for helping to manage all of the steps involved with staff, students and families related to COVID-19. This includes but is not limited to daily review of the health assessments at intake and any follow up steps necessary, communication with staff, students and families about positive COVID cases in the building, working in partnership with the nurses who administer COVID-19 testing, helping to track COVID leave time and so on. The COVID Coordinator will work closely with the CEO, Director of School Operations, Director of Human Capital, and school leadership teams to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the schools run smoothly and that students' academic and social emotional needs can remain the top priority. As this is a newly created position, s/he/they must be willing to be flexible in order to meet the most pressing needs of our community and should be open to the position evolving over time. The COVID Coordinator position will run until the end of June, 2022, with the possibility of extending beyond then, and will report to the CEO. Occasional remote weeknight and weekend work may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast of changes to COVID-19 guidelines and guidance from the CDC and PDPH, and propose any needed changes to our COVID-19 handbook addendum, health assessment questionnaires, and so on.
  • Review health assessments daily at arrival to see who has been denied entry; take follow-up steps as necessary to confirm reasons and/or correct for errors and ensure siblings are handled appropriately.
  • When positive cases are learned of (students, staff or within their household), take all follow up steps necessary, including but not limited to contacting the department of public health, reviewing vaccination information when applicable, contact tracing and determination of quarantine needs, and communication out to staff and families.
  • Materials coordination for students and families as needed when in quarantine
  • Perform building walkthroughs to check for compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols.
  • Possible organization of vaccination information sessions and clinics for students if/when the age group expands and provided there is enough interest.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High level of personal organization, planning, and follow-through and comfort with autonomy
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with students, families, and colleagues
  • Attention to detail
  • Research skills
  • Receptiveness to feedback, positive attitude, and a desire to continuously improve
  • Must have a car and driver's license in order to drive between the two school sites and bring materials to students/families at their homes as needed
  • Willing and able to comply with all of WCS' COVID-19 safety protocols
  • All applicable clearances required by law including current FBI clearance, Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, and proof of a negative TB test
  • Receptiveness to feedback, positive attitude, and a desire to continuously improve
  • Belief in Wissahickon Charter Schools' mission, and the belief that all children can learn and succeed

Compensation

This is a salaried, 10-month position that includes fully employer-paid benefits.
